"You saved them," Vance said. "But you left the Federation’s most valuable asset defenseless for six hours in a combat zone. If the Emerald Chain had found you..." "I know the risks, Admiral," Michael said softly.
Michael looked at the screen. The Kobayashi Maru was a test designed to see how a captain faced death. But in the 32nd century, the stakes weren't a simulation. She looked at Stamets. "Paul, can we use a localized burst from the spore drive to 'nudge' the station's orbit? Just enough to clear the interference?" Kobayashi MaruStar Trek: Discovery : Season 4 E...
"Michael," Admiral Vance’s holographic image appeared on the bridge, "Starfleet Command is tracking the DMA. If the Discovery gets within the event horizon of that anomaly, we lose the ship and the spore drive. You have your orders. Evacuate who you can and jump out." "You saved them," Vance said
"Negative, Book," Michael said, her mind racing through the simulations. "The station is spinning. If we send a shuttle or a person, the centrifugal force will crush them before they even land. We need to move the Discovery closer." Michael looked at the screen
The Discovery banked hard, the hull screaming under the pressure. Using the exploding remains of the Luma Station as a literal shield, the ship caught the shockwave and was propelled backward, tumbling through space until it cleared the anomaly's reach. Silence returned. The ship drifted, battered but whole.
Later, in her ready room, Michael stared out at the stars. Admiral Vance walked in. He didn't look angry; he looked tired.
Michael stood up. "Zora, can you reroute emergency power to the thrusters? We need to use the station’s debris as a gravity slingshot."
