Flicky

It was one of the first projects for designer Yoshiki Kawasaki, who worked from a simple four-page proposal to create a game that, unlike its contemporaries, did not penalize players for falling through floors. The Sonic Connection

Flickies appeared in the original Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) as the small animals trapped inside Dr. Eggman's Badniks.

The core objective is to rescue small chicks, known as "Chirps" (or "Piopio" in Japan), and lead them to the exit while avoiding enemy cats (Tiger/Nyannyan) and iguanas (Iggy/Choro).

Released by Sega in May 1984, is an early platformer where players control a blue bird named Flicky.
