The plot begins on September 4th, 2019, in . Prince Hazel Iversen ("the Swan") has negotiated a major unification deal between the Boston Camarilla and the Tremere of the Hartford Chantry. However, the celebratory party is ambushed, resulting in a Code Red —a high-level emergency alert that forces all vampires into hiding and triggers protocols to "clean house" by destroying incriminating evidence.

A brash socialite sent to the Jefferson Library to secure an alliance with the Hartford Chantry and later to infiltrate enemy headquarters to corrupt their database on vampires.
