The second trimester focuses on rules covered in the middle of the school year, often using programs like "School of Russia":
: Underlining the grammatical core (subject and predicate) and identifying parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective).
Two separate grades are typically given: one for the dictation itself and one for the grammar tasks. Dictation Errors Allowed Grammar Tasks Completion 0 errors and no more than 1 correction All tasks completed correctly. 4 (Good) 1–2 errors At least 3/4 of the work is correct. 3 (Satisfactory) 3–5 errors At least 1/2 of the work is correct. 2 (Poor) More than 5 errors Less than 1/2 of the work is correct.
